I care more about providing a comprehensive solution to the projects I engage with than just programming websites. I have found that listening to people and understanding their purpose or goals pairs really well with my knowledge of web architecture. Marrying the two can be really powerful! My greatest achievements are seeing businesses thrive after I do business with them.

There are a couple of core values that I apply to my life and business:

Humility . Creativity . Cooperation

A little history …

I built my first website in the year 2000 on the popular Geocities network. I quickly began tinkering with the code to get the results I wanted. The same is true when Myspace came out and there were many ways you could pimp your Myspace page by tampering with the code.

In 2007 I moved to Rio de Janeiro to work with the non-profit Mundo Real. I quickly became their communications and technology coordinator, building their website, social media, and newsletters. I was living in Rio de Janeiro’s largest urban slum, Rocinha, and that is where I learned how to program by following tutorials, taking online classes, and of course debugging all while living in one of my favorite neighborhoods in the world, Laboriaux.

I was introduced to WordPress in 2008 as I was handed a project that contained an install of WordPress version 2.2 which I then updated to version 2.6. Since then I have been working in WordPress developing themes and plugins for clients. I have also attended and spoke at several WordCamps and met many of the WordPress rockstars that power the market today. In 2014 I helped plan the first WordCamp Asheville.

I have also worked in various other platforms. I had the privilege of working on sites in a custom CMS built by Bruce Haumen developed for drag and drop website editing in the early days. I have worked in e-commerce as well and have built custom sites in Volusion, Big Commerce and Zen Cart. I have experience with both Joomla and Drupal as well.

I have also had the privilege of working closely with Big Bridge, a design agency based in downtown Asheville that produces incredible work, serving as their programmer of sites and website consultant of sorts.

As of October 2014 I have been working in the Craftpeak office in downtown Asheville with several other amazing designers and developers.

I enjoy riding my bicycle, exploring Western North Carolina’s beautiful wilderness, traveling, great music, and the company of my wonderful friends and community.
